Maybe our cards aren’t goth enough for you. Maybe you think you could do better.
Well, you’re in luck because we want to give our players the power to put their own creative spin on our game by offering Custom Cards for both the digital & physical editions of Gothest!

As has oft been said, however, with great power comes great responsibility.

Therefore, to keep the game from veering off course & flying headlong into territory that would quickly get us deplatformed, we have to set into place & enforce rules for which types of Custom Cards we will allow. Offending cards will be deleted without compensation & accounts which repeatedly create offending cards will be banned, also without compensation.

As a general rule, keep cards relevant to the subject of goth. Also, try to be fun & funny instead of cruel. In order to preserve our game’s distinct art style, we will accept photographic images of real people, animals or things only, so no uploads of drawings, paintings, digital art, &c. allowed. Photographs of drawings, &c. will also be rejected. Since we will be accepting photographs only, definitely DO NOT submit photographs of anyone who has not given you permission to use their image/likeliness on our cards (ESPECIALLY underage children) as we indemnify ourselves of all legal liability & you agree to this indemnification by playing our game, so using or misusing others’ likeliness could result in you personally getting sued for defamation or for other reasons.

Furthermore, please note that Custom Card images & texts CANNOT contain nudity or lewd/sexual/romantic content, graphic violence/gore*, hard drug usage or glorification*, profanity, racial slurs, political images or messages of any kind (left, right or other) or any type of advertising. Additionally, any/all licensed &/or trademarked characters, logos (including on clothing/accessories) or public figures for which you do not have written permission from their respective owners to use are prohibited.

Note that for the digital edition, Custom Cards cannot contain text which indicates any change to the game’s rules (e.g. “Playing this card grants the player an extra turn” or “Playing this card allows player to draw 2 cards from their deck”).

Sad that we’re at the point that we need to say this since games were always meant to be escapism from the stresses of the real world, but this is a game — NOT a place to parade or force your politics in peoples’ faces, so don’t make Custom Cards with the intention of “earning woke points” or “owning the libs.” This goes for your race, gender, sexuality or any other contentious topic, too. Gay? That’s none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being gay. Straight? Also none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being straight. Transphobic? Also none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being transphobic. Superphobic? Also none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being superphobic. Caucasian? Also none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being Caucasian. African? Also none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being African. Identify as a trans-attack helicopter? Also none of our business. Play our game, but don’t make a card about being an attack helicopter or trans-attack helicopter or whatever. These are just a few potential examples. We could go on forever, but you hopefully get the point by now. Our game is not a political battleground, so take your arguments to 4chan or some other platform. Earth politics are a plague & completely unwelcome in our game. The only politics in the Land of Shade are whoever wins the most bats is the gothest! If you are not the kind of person who can play a game without interjecting your politics into it, simply put, you are not the kind of player we wish to have in our community.

CONTRIBUTION LICENCE

By submitting your contributions (images/text or other) to any part of Gothest, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant to us an unrestricted, unlimited, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free, fully-paid, all-territories right, and licence to host, use, copy, reproduce, disclose, sell, resell, publish, broadcast, re-title, archive, store, cache, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, transmit, excerpt (in whole or in part), and distribute such contributions (including, without limitation, your images and text) for any purpose, commercial, advertising or otherwise, and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such contributions, and grant and authorise sub-licences of the foregoing. The use and distribution may occur in any media formats and through any media channels.

This licence will apply to any form, media, or technology now known or hereafter developed, and includes our use of your name, company name and franchise name, as applicable, and any of the trademarks, service marks, trade names, logos and personal and commercial images you provide. You waive all rights in your contributions and you warrant that rights have not otherwise been asserted in your contributions.

We are not liable for any statements or representations in your contributions provided by you in any area of Gothest. You are solely responsible for your contributions to Gothest and you expressly agree to exonerate us from any and all responsibility and to refrain from any legal action against us regarding your contributions.

We have the right, in our sole and absolute discretion, (1) to edit, redact, or otherwise change any contributions; (2) to re-categorize any contributions; and (3) to pre-screen or delete any contributions at any time and for any reason, without notice. We have no obligation to monitor your contributions.

*: We may be required to report Custom Card submissions which indicate a crime has taken place to local authorities for investigation/prosecution.
